about

A lush, electric-acoustic rock meditation, featuring my friend Lacey Brown, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. Lacey recorded nine vocal tracks, drums, guitar, and added lyrics to fill out the sonic soundscape.

Lacey and I have collaborated several times, performing chamber music, recording with singer-songwriter Damien Jurado, and remotely collaborating on her 2022 album Thin Air.

Singer-songwriters including Elliott Smith, Jeremy Enigk, Iron and Wine, are among my deepest musical influences—I love exploring this world, often adding wind choirs, harmonic clusters, improvisations, and experimental timbres.

The name Radiant Fields comes from the tradition of Buddhist Vipassana meditation, which asks us to rest our attention in both a radiant heart space and an interconnected field of awareness

This song began as solo saxophone piece with electronic effects. I played the bass ostinato and melody together with reverb and octave guitar pedals. I'm thrilled to hear it come to life with a full band and vocals.
